well, sometimes weekends just don't turn out the way you expect. our good old minnesota weather prevented me from going to the west side of the state to be with my family on saturday like i'd planned-i woke up and felt restless and without a single idea what i was going to do with my day. lars had plans with our oldest and was going to be gone all day, it was raining and dreary and i decided i had to make myself happy or be in a big ol' funk all day.
although it's a hike and i usually reserve going to occasional sales as a treat with girlfriends, i packed a lunch (ha) and drove out to independace. it was fun and it's always a treat to see all the work the girls at mamas happy have put into their monthly sale. i wandered through the crusty old creamery that is the shop, soaking up all the beautiful displays and then piggy backed on some other women's idea to drive to delano for lunch. i took a wrong turn out of the parking lot and ended up on a wild goose chase for a bit before ending up at the three crows cafe', where i had a bowl of chicken, white bean chili that was so spicy it pritnear knocked my socks off. : ) (do you sense a theme here? goose, crows, chicken) it was fun to poke around that little old downtown for a bit and then full of ideas- i headed home to try making a couple headbands like some i'd seen- (but did not want to pay the $27 price for).
here's how mine turned out~
if you sew at all you can see how easy these are to make- well the headband itself anyway. i did have to just wing it to figure out how to make the cutsie flower that is what makes them
extra cute I think. i stitched the flower almost entirely by machine- i just started with a knot on my flower fabric and then twisted and sewed, twisted and sewed and a couple hours later i had what would have been over $100 worth of headbands- done! (that really was a ridiculously inflated price don't you think? if you want one of mine- i'll sell it to you for a mere $15) : )
someday soon i'll show you the other two projects i also whipped up since i had my singer sewing machine out and was in the mood to create.
did you decorate for easter, now just two weeks away? i did, a week ago and
would love to show you some of those ideas later this week also.
oh and that baby i mentioned on friday? he was born friday, on his momma's 25th birthday and we cannot
wait to meet him!
*congratulations and love to all the schallock/stefonowicz's !
