when a child is born, so is a mother

tomorrow is mother's day and
it feels especially meaningful to me this year
because my daughter is a mama now too.

cj is 7 months old and i take a lot of photos of him but on the day
i took these, he was 6 months.
i was at her house and she was at work,
and it was the perfect time to
surprise her with more intentional photos.

bubs is always in a good mood and he was typically funny and sweet that
afternoon. i didn't really have a plan other than to let him roll around and play
while i took pictures.

this baby has captured my heart in ways i didn't even
know was possible.

i hope these pictures will help us remember this precious stage  ~

aren't baby hands the cutest?

********************

it's hard to believe that in the blink of an eye, this little love is now 7 months old.

every time we get to see him he just just delights
us with all the nuances of his darling personality.
he is the most curious child lars and i have ever seen.
he is wide eyed with wonder at the world and growing
and changing so fast.

getting him to giggle is about the best thing ever.
(we will swing from the chandeliers and attempt cartwheels
to hear that sweet sound.)
he has his daddies beautiful brown eyes and dark lashes.
his chubby little arms and legs are so irresistible. (he has
achieved this healthy status entirely from his mama and just started
eating solid foods a few weeks ago).

i am humbled watching my daughter mother this sweet boy.
we always knew she'd be a great mom. it started with her loving her
dollies... then she moved on to being an awesome
big sister and then a great teenage babysitter.

she has a fierce love for this baby of hers and it is clear~
she was born to be a mother
*and man is she doing it well.

happy 1st mother's day to our girl
and to all of you who have also had the
honor and privilege
to raise a child.

raisin' up my 3 has been my greatest joy.

a mother is a person who,
seeing there are only 4 pieces of pie for 5 people,
promptly announces she never really cared for pie.
