all of us have the basic things in life, like running water, electricity and SO much more, but these people don't.
last week my jefe (boss) and 5 of her buds who are also photographers were in guatemala. i was so
excited to have her come home. i couldn't WAIT to hear all about their adventures and i was dying to see her pictures. annie's parents have a project called common hope there and annie moved to guatemala straight out of college and lived and worked with them for 8 years. she has roots there, her children were born there and she has a passion for the people. you can hear it when she speaks of the country and you can see it in her photos.
she said i could share some of her favorites with you and i hope you enjoy them as much as i did.
one of the things she told me when we were looking at her pictures together and i was ougghing and agghing, was that these people are happy. they are content with what they have and they go about their lives, working and enjoying themselves-unaware of what they may be missing. ( like a computer to blog with) : )- doesn't that alone make these pictures beautiful?
this is my favorite one, AND annie brought me back a darling handmade bag that
she purchased from her...so it's doubly special to have a picture of her beautiful face.
isn't she beautiful and don't they exude joy?
this face~these hands... don't they just speak volumes?
thanks annie, for letting me share some of the compelling beauty
you see so clearly-
xo, beth
love these - especially the mother/child and the last lady - thanks for sharing!
